I'm in list-mode again so under the cut there's a list of all the books I've read so far this year. It's not a complete list, because I stopped keeping track at the end of March. I've spent half an hour tonight prowling round the house, staring at bookshelves, trying to jog my memory. The hardest books to remember are the library ones -- I don't think I've got all of those down, despite mentally investigating the library shelves for a few minutes. Ah well. ( Read more... )

You'll notice, I'm sure, that a lot of them -- most of them, actually -- are children's books. That's because I like to steal books from children whenever I can. And almost half of the total were re-reads; I read somewhere that only an idiot would read any book more than once, and this sits at the back of my mind whenever I reach for a much-loved (and by now dilapidated) book -- it never quite deters me. There are some books that I have to read, every year. They call to me when I walk past the bookshelves.

The only other thing worth noting today is that I got the shoulder-strap on my accordion fixed, so I can now play it without having to balance it awkwardly on one leg. I polished it up (years of dirt everywhere) and spent twenty minutes improvising 12-bar blues in easy keys. I think there's room in the jazz world for one small accordion, isn't there?
